Mighty polite of the PGA Championship to start Paul Casey on a different side than Brooks and John Rahm.....and also be thoughtful enough to put Brooksie behind Brooks. Some guy named Maverick out there, too. Gotta root for him a bit, but I'm a Brooks
fan because he has a personality and he golfs fast like I do.

Was just thinking how weird some sports are in our memories. Gold can be a religion of sorts as I grew up visiting my grandparents and the big argument was Jack vs Arnold between my grandparents. My friends and I were so addicted to golf when we were
teens, we broke into a closed golf course during a winter storm and enjoyed a loop....and it was fun as hell. When I was at Chico State, my house was adjacent to a 9-hole in Magalia up on the ridge E of Chico....It'd snow in winter and again, I took
some orange balls and did a round in the snow. Again, it was fun as hell. And, in my middle age, every time a Major comes up, I think back to the countless majors I've watched in my life....and you remember so many moments....Jack Nicklaus winning
the Masters at a ripe old age.....Greg Norman choking and his young son giving the most painful angry expression when he missed that put....Daly somehow winning the British Open when he was probably suffering some serious alcohol withdrawal....Tiger's
first Master's win....list goes on....even movies like Tin Cup get the hair standing up on my neck when Kostner keeps drowning balls....Somebody Tackle Him! With every major I hope for the chance of another memorable event and a chance to relive my
    life.

I don't like the whole "LIV thing," but have to admit that it makes the major tournaments a lot more interesting with the LIV players in it.

And, the vast majority of players who make the cut in the PGA Championship usually have at least an outside chance of winning; one reason why a "runaway" leader can be a real buzz killer.

One of the reasons I like the US Open....very democrat, yet completely impossible no matter where the course where the greens are class and the rough is impossibly deep. Very highly unlikely anyone runs away with the tournament like you might see at
the Masters. I really don't like the British Open because it just looks stupid when they choose a course that's too windy. Reminds me when they had the US Open at Pebble Beach a very long time ago and the winds just got crazy....If your group started
late, you were shooting in the deep 80's at least even if you were the tournament leader. Just had stupid results.

I've "been there" and know what you mean; though I drew the line @ snow-golf; they had/have "Winter Golf" on the Cape, but the wind made even that a deal-breaker for me.

Ya, I remember a ton with Jack's tournaments, and especially the Tom Weiskoff (sp? Whatever ) battles; really couldn't stand Tom Watson's arrogance, but Tom Weiskoff always showed Jack respect after a tournament.

    Awesome. Ya, Jack is even the best in course design after retiring from the PGA. A lot of other players tried but didn't do nearly as well; including Tom Weiskoff, who has a course that he (Weiskoff) designed. In Lake Las Vegas that maybe you've seen;
Jack has one out in Summerlin called "Bear's Best" at "The Ridges." I made it a point to see both of them on one Vegas trip or another.

Pebble Beach has some views. I still remember my grandpa's putting lesson to me that the ball always rolls towards the ocean. I wouldn't mind seeing Augusta, except I'm determined to avoid the South entirely.

It's a good leaderboard, with a lot of players capable of low rounds on the final day.
Phil shot par this morning with 6 birdies/6 bogies iirc.
    Too little too late though.

I got one of those "free deals" with the cable (Fios) company: Disney, Hulu and ESPN+ for a year. The ESPN has the live "Featured Groups" where they follow certain pairs/groups for the whole 18 holes; Phil and Jason Thomas I watched this morning.
Thursday and Friday it was Phil and Ricky and Cantlay. Not bad, much better than "unknown players" on the regular coverage on the early rounds.

    Make that "Justin" Thomas.

I'm kinda surprised, I would've had him as a top 5 pick. But, except for the Masters, it's difficult to make-up for bad, early rounds in the majors.

Right this second you can get 100-1 on victor perez who is only 3 off the lead. Wind alone can change and disrupt the last groups. What a flyer.

Hovland didn't give it much, he's like Rory: no "killer instinct."

Rory is famous for choke RD1 each major and then once the pressure is off having a glorious comeback falling just short as the pressure starts to build again. Hovland had it....but then choked with that double on 16. IMO, there's no pressure on Brooks
as he's won this twice before. Pressure for him is all Masters since I know he wants that one bad. I'm not sure being American if he even cares about about the British Open.
