Is Donald Trump’s nomination inevitable? (RJ)

AS Donald Trump maintains and builds on his commanding lead in polling of the Republican presidential nominating contest, the notion of the former president’s “inevitability” gains momentum.

Trump’s nearest rival, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, has yet to announce his intentions but trails by as much as 30 points in the early surveys. Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has failed to gain traction, as has former Vice President Mike Pence.
Others, such as former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, barely register.

Any candidate wouldn’t get a second look if they were weighed down by the baggage Trump carries — a criminal indictment, the subject of three state or federal investigations and his loss Tuesday in a defamation suit connected to a rape allegation.
Trump has airily dismissed all of the allegations as a witch hunt by a government/media cabal to deny him a return to the presidency.

In the face of all the legal issues, Trump’s grip on GOP voters hasn’t weakened. In fact, support rose following his indictment on fraud charges by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

Trump gave impetus to the inevitability theory by suggesting he would not participate in party-sanctioned debates because the issue has already been decided in his favor and any face-to-face confrontations would be pointless.

The loyalty of the party base is a testament to his ability to connect at a visceral level with the disaffected, those millions who share Trump’s disdain for the “elites,” the upper class who look down upon working men and women as unthinking,
uneducated rubes incapable of understanding the issues the nation faces.

In an America as deeply polarized as the country is, Trump’s message resonates. His supporters delight in his swagger and his pugnacious personality. They see someone whose toughness will deter the nation’s enemies and is unafraid to challenge rather
than cringe in the face of opposition.

Many believe his 2020 loss to President Joe Biden resulted from a fraudulent and corrupt election process and are willing to overlook the lack of any contrary evidence. They share his characterization of the media as “an enemy of the people,”
believing it guilty of misinformation, biased reporting, a hatred of all things Trump.

The start of the primary election season is less than a year away, and a great deal can happen in the intervening months. For instance, will his supporters reconsider or his support erode if he is charged with criminal conduct for allegedly interfering
in the election process, possessing classified material or — worse yet —encouraging amob of supporters to assault the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, to prevent the official certification of Biden’s victory?

His support at this stage appears unshakeable but not invincible. For party leaders who fear his candidacy will cost Republicans the White House and Congress, it is their obligation to coalesce behind an alternative, marshal their organizational and
fundraising prowess and convince Trump voters that their concerns are the party’s.

President Biden enters his 2024 re-election campaign as one of the more vulnerable incumbents in recent history. The stars are in alignment for a Republican victory, but someone other than Trump must be the person reaching for them.

    .

You know why Trump manages to overcome all this stuff you call "baggage"?
    .

He’s overcome it? Gee, I wonder what all the excitement’s about.. Oops, misspelled…. I wonder what all the INDICTMENTS are about?

It's because Americans can see right through the patently obvious Deep State schemes to get rid of him.

Is THAT why all those businesses of his failed. Is that why he’s been impeached twice. Is that why he’s lost court so many times. Heh. He sure fool you and your dwindling crowd.

Furthermore, You make one serious mistake when evaluating Trump as a candidate....we who vote for Trump
know it's not about Trump like you libtards thing.

Really? So what is the thing?

Trump is just the guy leading a movement.

Yea, it’s called a coup d'état. And all his coconspirators are making deals and spilling their gut at the grand
    juries about his “serious mistakes.”

I don't even think he originally intended to lead this movement but he recognized it and adapted himself as
a candidate to respond to his voters.

    What movement?

When Trump is gone, it'll just be next man up for our movement.

The ones already distancing themselves from him? Give us your list of ‘next men.’

You can impeach, prosecute, sue, do whatever you want to our candidates and we don't care.....

Yea, but he does. Look at him squirm.

It's our movement that matters....we only support the candidate because he represents our movement,
not because he's a nice guy.

So, AGAIN, what movement is that? (You know, the one where you have other’s lined up).

And don’t forget to answer that top question. Are you going to vote to lose your Social Security and healthcare?

(Gee, two questions to run from…)

The Trump campaign was, quite obviously, coordinating with Putin's intelligence apparatus. They went so far as to provide the Russians with voter data to target. Not to mention Trump publicly entreating the Russians to help him win. With his cretinous
supporters cheering enthisiastically, no less. And the Russians did do everything they could to help him. He subsequently proved to be an invaluable asset for their schemes of miltary expansion.

So the only question is how many of them will stay home, this time.
That could swing it the other way. If the Dems can wake up and

The Trump voters will probably still vote him, they don't care about

I don't see anyone that can beat him.
We now have the worst choice ever.
    Worst
    1. Biden - Trump 2.0
    2. Biden - Trump 1.0
    3. HRC Trump

I wonder how Biden can avoid the debates. There is not a chance in hell he can debate anyone,
    much less Trump
    .

When was the last time he went out in public unscripted?
    .

Less than four days ago, answering reporter's questions.
You watch FOX? You missed it. (FOX wouldn't show it).
    .
    .

Still, none of the anti-Trump voters of 2020 will vote Trump in 2024.
So the only question is how many of them will stay home, this time. .

That's what Ron DeSantis said, yesterday. "You want to keep losing?"
    .
    .

That could swing it the other way. If the Dems can wake up and
nominate someone else, anyone, the Fortress is a lock.
    .

You're under the impression that we Democratic voters will not vote Democrat if Biden isn't on the ticket?

Where does that thinking come from?
    .

The Trump voters will probably still vote him, they don't care about
porn actress payouts, they care about the Thought Police cesspool
and commie stagnation/inflation economy of the Dems.
    .

So, show us the "Thought Police."
Show us the "commie stagnation/inflation economy."
Show us who you buy that line from ...

Personally, I think that she is beautiful, but she doesn't look "nice" at all. For me, Michelle Obama is much more attractive, if only for her intelligence and humour.

As for Melania Trump, I seriously annoyed a friend of a friend a couple of years ago, when they referred to her as the classiest First Lady ever. I asked if doing soft-core porn/erotica was "classy", and produced a link to the pictures when asked. I was
then unfriended. Another person who didn't like their bubble of artificial reality popped.
