The Raiders were a basically good team I had high hopes for in their 2nd Las Vegas season. That sure went bust. Oakland As ... hmmm. Don't know what to think.

And Wild, Wild West was such a great place for Paul to pick up hookers. He must be bummed.

I'm impressed with the whole thing, with regard to how easy it was on "the Las Vegas end" of things: it seemed like they approved and built the Raiders' stadium, relatively before you could blink; and it's in a perfect location with easy I-15 and bridge-
access from Mandalay Bay and the "South Strip."

It's almost a slam dunk that an NBA team will be moving to Vagas to complete having the four major sports.

It's Las Vegas. There will still be hookers there. I watched the Cubs play a series with the As earlier this week. The As did not look good. Stadium mostly empty. So you're a Las Vegan --How much are Las Vegas and Nevada residents on the hook for
all these new stadiums? Knights, Raiders, As... All these business men are fiscal conservatives until it comes time to spend there own fucking money. The Rickets made a play for municipal money for their improvements. Chicago is still on the hook for
Soldier Field and will be long after the Bears move to Arlington in a couple of years. Probably still paying for Guaranteed Rate Field as well. Sweet Jesus, that name is a travesty. The As stadium would have to be covered, neh?

$750 million of hotel taxes are set aside to pay for the Raiders stadium. It's an obvious subterfuge because if the taxpayers want what those taxes would have paid for otherwise they're going to have to pony up themselves or try to raise hotel taxes. It
sounds like something similar is planned for the As stadium. They'll create a special tax district around the stadium that redirects sales taxes to pay for the development. That could be a breakeven for the taxpayers if the tax district generates enough
    additional sales tax revenue.

No worries. The Cubs are a case study in how to make money off of a losing team. Wouldn't count on the deal being break even for tax payers, though. These deals always start with boosterism and rosy scenarios.

Seems odd that it'll cost "just" 1.5 billion to take down the Tropicana and build a 35,000 seat, retractable roof baseball stadium; when the World Resorts Las Vegas Costs around 5 billion and the NFL's Washington Commanders is selling for about 6 billion.

Elon Musk could build it asl a gift, just being a nice guy, and his total worth of $168 billion wouldn't hardly miss the 1.5 billion.

In other Las Vegas news the 'showgirls' on the Strip are now sporting nipple pasties rather than those old-fashioned skimpy tops. I think they were pasties. It might be just body paint. I'll take a closer look next time and update. There was one doing
this (pasties) Downtown before COVID. But I never noticed her getting any customers.

I tried verifying this only to find out there is a MLB team called the Guardians now. Cleveland Crack Addicts would have been a more accurate name for the city. Maybe the Cleveland Cocksuckers if SF hasn't already taken the name. Some team should
be called the Dildos. They can have a free dildo giveaway on Mother's Day. Not sure why some NBA team hasn't named themselves the Pandas yet....with NBA being so popular in China, can you imagine all the shirts and hats they'd be selling with a
Panda logo? 8 Jersey will be way popular being it's everyone's lucky number there.

    Good analysis here: https://thenevadaindependent.com/article/sports-economists-pan-public-funding-for-as-ballpark-deal-as-standard-stadium-grift

I favored the Raiders deal but not this one. The As won't bring in more than a very negligible number of new visitors to Las Vegas. The As will always be an also-ran team because the owner's strategy is to squeeze every penny he can out of an also-ran
team. He's decided that's easier than building a more profitable world-class team.

A new casino on the site would generate real revenue.
