Are you going to fish or cut bait? Mike Pence has finally turned his guns on the fat TRAITOR. Are you going to go down in history as the last supporter of that disloyal pig?

'Former VP MIKE PENCE seized the spotlight at the Gridiron yesterday evening — but not for the reason speakers at the annual high-brow journalism dinner typically do.

Sure, Pence had the crowd roaring with self-deprecating dad jokes about his reputation as a deeply religious man, musing at one point that “I always wanted to be the bad boy, the rebel type, the hell-raiser. You know, someone like MITT ROMNEY” —
and that he was late because he had to drop “a few more boxes off at the National Archives.”

But the big headline of the evening was Pence slamming former President DONALD TRUMP in what amounts to his strongest criticism to date of his former running mate.

“History will hold Donald Trump accountable for Jan. 6,” Pence said. “Make no mistake about it: What happened that day was a disgrace, and it mocks decency to portray it in any other way. President Trump was wrong. His reckless words endangered my
family and everyone at the Capitol that day.”

“Tourists don’t injure 140 police officers by simply sightseeing,” he said. “Tourists don’t break down doors to get to the Speaker of the House. Tourists don’t threaten public officials.”

The former veep did something else that caught the room by surprise: He praised the press — which Trump has routinely lambasted as the “enemy of the people” and “fake news” — and specifically applauded coverage of Jan. 6. “We were able to
stay at our post in part because you stayed at your post,” he said of reporters who covered the attack in real time. “The American people know what happened that day because you never stopped reporting.”

He added: “I don’t deny that you infuriate me … and I’m sure I infuriate you … but I genuinely value what you do to keep us a democracy.”

In the room, the serious turn of Pence’s remarks took attendees by surprise — attendees of the white-tie affair generally have come to expect light-hearted comedy, not serious statements about issues of national importance.'

Hopefully, Trump will not really run again and he will direct his
followers to a different candidate. Trump was an unusual president but
we needed a change. It will be a very interesting year or two coming.

'The Circus of Dr. Lao' I think, as I said in another thread.

I don't think Trump is capable of directing to another candidate. The utter implosion of the Republican party could be in the cards. The best thing that could happen for the Republicans is if Trump is knocked out of the running by his numerous legal
    entanglements.

A laughable Democrat could win by default. Biden actually looks better than the Democrat alternatives.

It's interesting that neither party seems capable of producing a worthwhile candidate.

It is an interesting time ... extremes (either far end) are seldom "the
answer" to what is "wrong" ...

My reading of history is that when extremists finally "win" and take
over "everything" ... the end is near.

Kings ... shamans ... dictators ... all empires fail

    unfortunately

Mike Pence is a professional politician with aspirations to return to the Whitehouse. He knows that will never
happen if Trump is re-elected so it's no surprise he disparages Trump.

I voted for Trump twice and would walk five miles in a rain storm to vote for him again if he was running
against Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. However, my sincere hope is that Trump will not be the
Republican candidate in the 2024 presidential election. He is too divisive and polarizing and I would
    much rather see DeSantis run.

Joe Biden has been an absolute disaster for America. Soaring inflation, rampant increase in violent crime,
six million illegals flooding across our open southern border, his disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan,
Russia's invasion of the Ukraine because of Biden's weakness and his extreme division of the country.

Joe Biden is mentally impaired and is incapable of leading America, which is why 80% of Democrats do not
want him to run for re-election in 2024. However, as a Conservative, Traditional American who loves this country
I definitely do want Biden to be the Democrat candidate in 2024 and I definitely want to see Kamala Harris

I definitely do want Biden to be the Democrat candidate in 2024 and I definitely want to see Kamala Harris
on the ticket as his VP.

~ Not even then. You, for example, stated you didn't vote for Biden because Berney Sanders got knocked out.

Meaning, Yea. Split the vote and laugh at those that don't vote as a, "I'll show them!"
Like you did when Sanders wasn't on the slate.

Did you develop that revelation about how I voted while you were hooting at the moon?

Unfortunately, Jerry, most (almost all) of what you post is not worthy
of serious consideration, so it is often ignored or berated. This
missive is an example of such nonsense.
