Firearms will become the number 32 cause of death for children in the United States if we keep the teenage street thugs in prison where they belong.

Unfortunately, way too many are black folks doing the killing and being
killed. But you would not know anything about that. Firearms are

Of course not. Only just over half the suicides in the USA are by
gun. Interestingly, of people who attempt suicide by gun over
85% are successful. Compare attempts at suicide by drug overdose
(the most common *attempt*) where only 3% are successful. So
certainly if you want to be successful in killing yourself, a gun
is the right tool for job. Unlike drugs, razors or car exhaust,
there's no time for you to reconsider after the fact and screw it up.

~ Of course not.

    --bks
It's a matter of choice. If someone intending suicide wants to leave open the possibility of reconsideration they could start by wounding themselves.

Those "cries for help," suicide attempts are usually pills.

Yea. Those that have attempted it, those considering it.
    .

I don't know what that means.

Those that have considered, or attempted, suicide did not use the reason, “I considered, or tried,
suicide because of the easy means available.”

Do you have evidence that a person
considered suicide because they have an easy way to achieve it?

And if a person is NOT a gun nut, and drinks himself into a depression, and want’s to kill themselves,
they don’t because a gun is their only choice and they don’t have one?

*Wait* Drinking is the only way to go into a depression? And a gun lover at that?
I’ve gone through depression. Making a decision of wanting to take your own life is NOT
    dependent of the method.

A popular way in California is simply swerving into an oncoming lane. Then your family can still get
    Your insurance.

Then there are those ‘crying for help,’ (Not actually wanting to die, but leave an out). They take pills (perhaps ot enough); they stand on the edge of the building but don’t jump. Etc.

There are VERY easy ways to kill yourself; are you considering it for that reason?

I have never come even remotely close to considering suicide.

Possibly ten times more if the assailant had tossed bottles of ricin around.
Perhaps that's why it's against the law for us to have a bottle of ricin.

So why haven’t our local gun nuts explained why we can’t purchase hand grenades; or fully automatic 50

Some of the Huks in the Phillipines had those. At 19 lbs. they only weighed about 7 times more than
    the rifle.

But they still offered us 1,500 pasos for our M1. And 3,000 for one of our radios.

Yes, at the World Freefall Convention in I think 2002.

    2. .. hanging from a bi-wing flying upside down?
    3. .. how difficult was it to crawl on top before it flipped over?

Yes it's a Pitts Special. The first part of the ride he did aerobatics, spins, rolls, loops etc.
Then he gets on jump run and waggles his wings, your que to stand up and grab the crossbar, he then rolls to inverted in shallow dive, had a Nikon F body on his roll bar and shot a roll and nods for you to let go. So very easy to do, just a tad freaky.

The reserve on a modern sport rig is in the back on top, the main is on the bottom.

Video of my first reserve ride. Normally line twist is not a malfunction but a high-performance canopy can go into a death spiral with a decent rate of about half of freefall speeds.

My old instructor always said, you can fight it for the rest of your life or you can cut away and pull your reserve.

I deployed early because the guys under me, if they deploy it can be instant death for all involved.

~ The firearms the cops used to kill the shooter? Lots. But if there Assault Weapons ban ha
been in place, much fewer deaths. Possibly none.
    .

Possibly ten times more if the assailant had tossed bottles of ricin around.
Perhaps that's why it's against the law for us to have a bottle of ricin.

So why haven’t our local gun nuts explained why we can’t purchase hand grenades; or fully automatic 50
caliber (BAR) weapons; or Stinger missiles?
    ~ LOL at a 50 cal BAR

But if you want the real deal 30 06 go here

~ Some of the Huks in the Phillipines had those. At 19 lbs. they only weighed about 7 times more than
    the rifle.

~ But they still offered us 1,500 pasos for our M1. And 3,000 for one of our radios.
    (But I said no).

I doubt that any Huks offered to buy your carbine, Jerry.

Not mine. I didn't have one there. Just a 45 for our burn pit operations. (That I have applied to the VA for
compensation, thanks to Biden's Bill). (No thanks for anti-military Republicans trying to block).

The Marines that guarded us had the big guns. We had the radios.

Do you know what a Huk is?

    Yes.

They were in front in the olden days. The main chute in the back was already so heavy it was difficult to stand up from a sitting position.
I had 2 main canopy malfunctions in just over 900 jumps.

It was a blast, stayed in it for 5 or 6 years but quit after I lost 2 close friends and 3 others I knew, all in less than a year.

That's brutal. Was it pilot error or equipment failure?

I've had a number of personal encounters with skunks. Punching them in the nose never seemed like a good option. I can think of no close proximity encounter where I come out on top. Best not to surprise them and let them move on on their own.

    Bingo!

I lived in the High Sierra and the occasional skunk would wander into your home if you left the door open.

Our neighbor had one in the house, so they placed a number of sheets of plywood in the kitchen that would guide the skunk toward the door. Once in place, they just waited for it to decide to walk out. On its way out, the guy's wife slapped the side of
the plywood in order to hurry it. Bad move. Squirt and run.

Another lady had a family of them under her porch. She'd feed the young. Never had a problem.

Cougars, foxes, coyotes, dogs, bobcats, and owls. Plus, an old poker player in NorCal who'd trap them and then drown them in a trashcan full of water.

I've heard before that all you need to do if they show up in your trap is the following:
    1. Fill a trashcan full of water.
    2. Use a big piece of cardboard to protect yourself from the skunks spray.
    3. Pick up trap with skunk and place it in the trashcan.

No dumbass, you are the fool...suggesting you carry a knife for defense, when in reality, sailing you might need to cut a line. So, fuck you. If you are close enough to someone with a knife and they aren't prepared to mag dump you, then you got a

About what? In the UK, hedgehogs no longer curl up when cars approach, as that tactic was weeded out.

Same fucking lunatics who want ARs banned despite them only killing a few hundred people per years are ALSO the same idiots who wanted the drug war ended and now we have 100,000 kids dying per year just because of fentanyl. Also, we have an endless
amount of drug related crime now, but you want to take away our guns we use to defend ourselves against these criminals. Too bad that Cash App exec who just got stabbed to death and no one helped him in SF wasn't able to carry a gun. He could have
defended himself against the knife attacker.

Having a gun didn't help Mr. Dotson:
    |
    | Police in Farmington, New Mexico, fatally shot a man while
    | responding to a domestic disturbance call at the wrong
    | house. The man killed lived across the street from the
    | house police had been called to.
    | ...
    | Police knocked on the (wrong) door, no one answered, and
    | "officers asked their dispatch to call the reporting party
    | back and have them come to the front door."
    | ...
    | As they started to leave, 52-year-old homeowner Robert
    | Dotson opened his front door holding a handgun--not an
    | entirely unreasonable thing for someone to do when they get
    | a strange knock on their door late at night.
    |
    | No one alleges that Dotson pointed the gun at the police
    | officers or threatened them.
    | ...
    | Dotson was pronounced dead at the scene.
