News headline from a few weeks back:
    "Legislature considers lowering cannabis tax.
Help on the way for beleaguered industry"

Think back to history... could anyone imagine such
    a headline, in 1990? It's surreal.

But.... why do they need help? Isn't there a
large market for their product? They're TAXED and
REGULATED, the liberals promised paradise, isn't
    that good for EVERYONE?

Well, as it turns out, the untaxed unregulated market
is bigger! You know, the same one that existed for 60
years, in private trade, quite satisfied, excepting the
occasional nuisance of your friends and mine, our
    brave boys in blue.

Because this 'black market' is selfish, dammit, producers
and consumers don't want to hand their wallets over to
the Sacramento mafia protection racket. Don't they
appreciate the care and compassion of our unselfish rulers?

After spending a few days in DC I was amazed about their laws vs Georgia.
In DC you can door dash weed products but go to prison for a firearm.
in GA, you can go to jail for a year over an ounce of weed but carry damn near any gun you want.

    Odd country we live in.

What percentage decide to stay despite the exorbitant cost of living and the hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars in real estate profit they could pocket by moving to a red state shithole? That should tell you something.

California has the third highest cost of living after Hawaii and New York. I believe the top 10 states with the lowest cost of living are all red, but for some inexplicable reason about 99% of Californians choose not to cash in and move to one of them.
It's one of life's great mysteries.

California has the third highest cost of living after Hawaii and New York.

Under the “Be careful what you wish for” department:

“Why look how my cost of living is cheaper here in the Mississippi-South, as compared to California. My water expense is small because I have an outhouse. My property taxes are small because our schoolhouse is a barn and the teacher doubles as our
Mailman. We don’t have a fire station within 20 miles and when we do have electricity, the voltage is over 90% of what it should be. Our roads are fine, once we grade out the ruts after it rains. And the hospital in the next county is always empty,
even on those days of the week the doctor’s in. Shore’ glad we don’t have the cost of living them lefty states have, being our state is a ‘Negative Tax’ state and they make up the difference.”

So, yea, I even tried getting a job in Hawaii. Found out later the agency gets so many offers like mine that
they can’t even afford to make and mail all the rejection notices. Tens of thousand attempt to move there
every year. I wonder why we all didn’t consider the ‘cost of living in paradise’ when there’s so may jobs
    available in Alabama…

I believe the top 10 states with the lowest cost of living are all red, but for some inexplicable reason about
99% of Californians choose not to cash in and move to one of them. It's one of life's great mysteries.

Heh, yea. Epically when you can move to Texas, or Mississippi or Georgia and hope your house was built to code,
    if the country had one…
