Well, I don’t think so. But hell, I won’t bother looking at the numbers, you could be right’ but I don’t care. As far a I can tell, school sports is just an outgrowth recess. Or as one school administrator put it, “If we don’t have sports,
some kids won’t come to school.” Which is an outgrowth with my fight with my local school when my kids were in.

I’d go to school board meetings and raise hell. “My son’s math teacher (the only one at this school) quit and now it’s taught by the biology teacher. WTF? You have six football coaches and six assistant Principles, yet only one math teacher?”

This was a hick town in nowhere Oregon (The Dalles). Like Texas, football was everything. The requirement to play high school sports was “Better than three Fs and D.” Some school board member took me aside and said, “If we don’t let them have
sports and football, they won’t come to school.”

So, yea, fuck their sports. “Four years of Reading, Writing and Arithmetic.” The best I could do before I left the state was get the requirement to “Two Years of math” in high school. Anyway…

Yea, my kid can’t get a scholarship because he’s a computer expert; but some 300# dufus gets a scholarship because he fat and can run with a football. Then he graduates with a degree in Underwater Finger Painting and a tryout with the 49ers. I got
to pay my kid and his girlfriends full 5-years for an engineering degree. (And the fucking football coach makes $2 million a year).
