• Hey, Graham!

From Leonard Blaisdell@21:1/5 to All on Tue Jul 15 11:17:12 2025
My wife graduated with two friends. They married. Life happened, and she
gave them a set of her "Russian Nesting Purses" at a reunion.
Today, by complete surprise, we got this in the mail. It's a
    handcrafted, by him, Lazy Susan.
    I thought of you.

Nice! That purple wood in the centre looks like
purpleheart, Peltogyne spp., from Central and South America.
I've cut up the last pieces I have into pen blanks.

I had the rudest customer service on a phone call today. I won't repeat
that they said when I called the Suppository Helpline.

Let me guess. They weren't willing to have someone
come to your house to demonstrate or they had no
helpful online videos?? I'd complain if I were you
and mention how rude they were as well.

According to the note, the wood is purpleheart, padauk and maple.
I was only familiar with maple, and not that familiar with it.
The only wood that has stuck with me, from 8th grade shop class, is
mahogany. I don't think that purpleheart was an option back then. :)

The padauk is usually a beautiful reddish colour when fresh-cut,
Like many woods, it turns brown with exposure, especially to sunlight.

I only know mahogany from Diana Ross.
