In most parts of Canada and the US it is legal to pass on the right and sometimes there are conditions that specifically allow it, like on a two
lane road where someone is making a left turn and you can to it without
    going off the road.

I was once involved in an incident where the other party was charged
with unsafe passing on the right. I was driving a snow plow and was
driving the lead plow. Something bumped me and pushed me toward the
median. I cranked the wheel to the right to regain control and bumped
into him. A tractor trailer full of fuel had been passing me and he hit
the wing plow. It turned out to be his fuel tank I kept hitting. The cop
as me what happened. I explained that I was plowing the left lane with
the wing plow extended suddenly got pushed the to the right, steered

Duh. You're also allowed to scratch your head while driving a car.

Law aside, there is sensible driving. Let's say this road has two lanes
each way and a speed limit of 50. You are one of a few cars on the road
doing about 55, cruising the right lane. You come up to a car in the
left lane cruising at 49 mph. I think everyone would pass him on the
right, possibly muttering some cure words.

It's curious that some people can get self righteous and figure it is
their duty to stop other people from exceeding the speed limit and not realizing they violating other sections of the same statute. You are
supposed to keep to the right unless passing.

In Germany it is usually illegal to pass on the right. There are a few exceptions. On the Autobahn there are long stretches of road with no
speed limit. Other stretches have limits, but most of those are as much
as 130kph )80 mph). However, the cops strictly enforce the keep right
and no passing on the right laws.

He was not charged for passing a snowplow in the right. He was charged

snow plows. That changed a few years ago and it is not illegal to pass

Yeah, that would be nice. On the freeways between here and Detroit,

    NY POST:

Trump enters his ‘Golden Age’ as bill passage caps long list of ‘remarkable’ accomplishments — wowing even critics

"WASHINGTON — President Trump is at the height of his political power following Thursday’s passage of his “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” – capping a remarkable two-week streak of domestic and foreign policy
feats that even Democrats are calling impressive.

Trump, 79, will sign the bill fulfilling his major campaign pledges – including to cut taxes on tips, overtime and Social Security benefits –
at a pre-fireworks Independence Day party on the White House lawn.

B-2 stealth bombers will fly over the celebration in recognition of
their role in the Trump-ordered June 21 US airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear program, which was followed two days later by an equally unprecedented Trump-brokered cease-fire between Israel and Iran.

The commander in chief, riding high on that diplomatic coup,
strong-armed NATO nations at the alliance’s annual conference to boost military spending to 5% of their GDP by 2035, after complaining for
years that US allies were freeloading off American taxpayers.

He returned home to good news from the Supreme Court, which handed him
wins on deporting illegal immigrants to third countries and restricting nationwide injunctions by district court judges — while CBS’s parent company agreed to fork over $16 million for deceptively editing an
interview last year with Trump’s election rival, then-Vice President
    Kamala Harris.

Over the weekend, Canada scrapped a digital services tax against US
internet giants under pressure from Trump, followed days later by the University of Pennsylvania stripping honors from transgender swimmer Lia
Thomas and the announcement of a pending trade deal with Vietnam – as
major stock market indices notched record highs and illegal border
    crossings hit new record lows.

Kellyanne Conway, senior counselor to Trump during his first term,
declared “these have been the most consequential two weeks of Trump’s second term, as he makes peace deals, trade deals and tax deals,
    everywhere all at once.”

“And he’s just getting started. America is in its Golden Age,” Conway said.

“The snark and bark of his petty critics is muted and meaningless. If
you can’t beat him, join him. Sit back and enjoy a nation that is
sovereign, secure and prosperous. We are the envy of the world and Trump
    is just getting started...”

I didn't realize you got a new car, last I remember you were pretty set

I hate to say it, but you could have bought a reliable 25 year old

money on the cost of that rental, Ouch!!

Did someone without insurance rear-end you? Otherwise, I'd think

think it'll be done by the end of this month.

I wish I had kept my Highlander a little longer. I got about $700
for it and by the time my new car gets out of the shop I'll have
paid about $1400 in car rental. Sure, it was spewing brake fluid
everywhere I went, but we probably could have kept it topped off
for less than $1400. Or even had it fixed.

I didn't realize you got a new car, last I remember you were pretty set
on keeping your Highlander. What a bummer to have a new car wrecked.

I hate to say it, but you could have bought a reliable 25 year old
Corolla and then given it away when your car was fixed, and still saved
money on the cost of that rental, Ouch!!

I had a "reliable" 21-year-old Highlander. I got tired of sinking
one or two thousand into it every year and wondering if it was
going to crap out in Detroit.

    A Corolla doesn't have the functionality I need. I bought a 2022
    Honda CR-V.

I traded in the FJ Cruiser and sold the Highlander to the auction
    market.

Did someone without insurance rear-end you? Otherwise, I'd think
insurance should cover the cost of your rental with your car in the shop.

Hit and run. I didn't have rental coverage on my policy. On the
plus side, I didn't have to pay my deductible, which was about
the same as the car rental.
