What's coming out of your kitchen this Thursday evening?
Sandwiches, full meal prep, grilling, or finishing off
    some leftovers?

It's going to fire roasted tomato soup here. I'm
anxious to see if it's going to be better than my
favorite whole tomato recipe blended with a stick
blender after simmering. Ingredients are the same,
with the tomatoes being the only difference and
there's just enough heavy cream left to make it
    super rich.

My wife had ramen with ham cubes. I will have <mumble>. I think it's
time to freeze the leftover ham.

I look forward to your critique on fire roasted tomato soup. 🙂

we're eating some funeral food. My daughter made some fried rice balls
filled with Spam. It's quite a strange thing to do - or is it?

Unless you're really sick of ham, some of it could be used
to make a ham and hash brown casserole. That makes a great
    breakfast or a dinner casserole.

The soup is quite good, but to me, no great distinction in
flavor from regular canned whole tomatoes that are used to
make the 'standard' homemade tomato soup. It certainly
    won't go to waste.

Maybe I should have made a small batch of 'regular'
tomato soup. Then a small batch of fire roasted
tomato soup to equally compare them. Either version
I've made is creamy using a stick blender and of
course a big glug of heavy cream.

This morning, I fried up some rice balls stuffed with Spam for my
granddaughter to take for lunch. My daughter made the rice balls. My
wife said her Korean step-mom would have loved that stuff. It's kind of
goofy but I suppose the concept has possibilities.

Canned fire-roasted tomatoes are kind of meh, compared with
    roasted fresh tomatoes.

I've seen some recipes using fresh roasted tomatoes.
I watched a video the other day where Bridget from ATK
used canned whole tomatoes that she'd sliced open and
then roasted those. All the juice from the can was
saved to make the soup as well.

Just a few minutes ago I had a mug of the soup I made
Thursday. I do believe the overnight chill has added
to its' flavor, neighbor across the alley raved about
it. But next time I'm going to make small batch of
fire roasted tomato soup and a small batch of regular
tomato soup and do a taste comparison.
