• Stressful Day

From Ed P@21:1/5 to All on Sat Apr 19 19:02:45 2025
People think my life is easy. Retired, minimal responsibility, but
people do not realize the stress I have some days, like today.

I knew what I was having for dinner, simple chicken dish. The stress
though, is what to drink with it. I have a selection of wines, bought
some on sale today, Art of the Cooper Chardonnay. Good stuff.

OTOH, I've not had a gin & tonic in a week or so. That would be good
with dinner on a Saturday night too. To make the decision more
difficult, if I go with the F&T, do I pour Hendricks or The Botanist?

While dinner was cooking, I made my choice. What a relief!

A lot of old retirees enjoy the everclear. Maybe you should try a bottle?

Haven't had a gin and tonic in a week or so?? I haven't had one in
years. I used to love them.

I had a Manhattan after I had prepared supper. We had our Saturday night burgers so it was natural to opt for a beer.

They just want the effects. I enjoy the flavor.

Everclear would be good for making cordials. We use my MiL's recipe for raspberry hooch... a quart a quart and a pound. A quart of raspberries,
a quart of alcohol and a pound of sugar. Find yourself a bottle or jug
large enough to hold the ingredients, mix the sugar and alcohol
together, add the berries, shake it up a bit and put it in a dark
cupboard. Invert the jug daily for a few weeks and then let it sit for
    about three months.

If you looked at the photo, the glass I used is from Lucky Bones, a bar
and restaurant I've gone to a few times when I visit my friend Joan. The
last visit, we both ordered a margarita. We had the worst and the best
    ever.

New bartender that day. The drinks were terrible so we told the
waitress. She did not replace them, but instead, she brought over some additional rum, some mint and we turned them into a great drink.

We'll probably go back when I visit this spring.

I confess I was more curious about the Hendrick's Gin. Is that good
stuff. I have not had bought any gin in a long time because I have not
been drinking it. I still have some Bombay Sapphire. The other standby
is Tangueray. Gin and Tonic is a nice drink for a hot humid day. I used
to occasionally have some on the rocks with a twist of lemon.

Rum and mint? Sounds more like a Mojito than a Margarita.
That's another good summer drink I have not had in a few years.

Yes, Mojito. Not sure why I was thinking mararita aside from the fact I
    had one the other day.
