I have been smelling tuna fish when coffee was brewing for years now! I thought that I was the only one, but I just googled it, and found this!! Definitely a thing, I see.

Dear Coffee Generation; The Movers and the Shakers,

Is something wrong with my olfactory system? Often times fresh coffee smells something like tuna fish! Does anyone else experience this perplexing phenomenon?

I have had the same experience! Immediately after it is ground, there is
a scent in the room that suggests tuna. I thought it was just me, but my daughter recently made the same observation without my ever having suggested it.

Coffee does not smell like tuna. Tuna smells of coffee.

Starbucks Pike Place grounds have always smelled like tuna to me, straight from the bag.

I’ve never heard of coffee smelling like tuna fish, but now that you mention it, I can see how certain beans or brewing methods might cause some unexpected scents. Have you tried different coffee beans or methods to see if it still happens? I wonder if
the tuna smell is linked to the roast level or maybe the water you're using.
