  • Anyone else looking at I bonds 9.63%

    I bought some. Not sure if it is really a good idea but way more than
    the bank is paying me.

    Suzy Orman says its a great idea. You can only protect 10 K per year though.

    10 k per year per SSN you can come up with (spouse, kids etc). You
    have to be willing to commit to a year and you lose 3 months interest
    if you sell it within 5 years. The interest is computed twice a year
    and if it dropped significantly, that 3 month thing would be
    diminished somewhat.
    I don't think it is where you should have most of your money but it
    isn't a bad place to park some.
    The website sucks but once you get set up it is OK.

    I bought $10K each for me and my wife.  Why not?  My high yield savings
    is 1.65%, and my invested savings have taken a beating so I don't want
    to touch that until Brandon & company are gone.  I'm in the process of building a vacation home and that's on hold until this mess returns to normal.  The mid-terms should yield a good result.
