Cheeky little buggers ain't they ! Did you know that the male builds
the nest , and the female approves of his work ? Or not ... he may have
to build 2 or 3 or more before she accepts one . I was unable to use my
table saw one summer (didn't really need it anyway ...) because a pair
had a nest in it .
They're very noisy when they sing. :) Yes, I did know the female is
picky and the guy does most of the work.
When I lived in west TN a pair built a nest in a grapevine wreath I had
hanging on the front door. It was a glass paned door so I could see the
birds in the nest from the inside. I took to exiting by the back door
so as not to disturb them.
Where I live now there are "message boxes" underneath the individual
mailboxes. For flyers and such. The Carolina wrens find them the
perfect place to built a nest. They stuff them with Spanish moss and
leaves and whatever fluff they find. You never know where you might
find a nest. :)
