I did 25 miles today at an average of 10.88 So far this month I have 405 miles and 8,000 feet of climbing. There is still a week left in this month, but Friday and Saturday is aupposed to rain though it was alsop raining, sort of, last Tuesday and I
could ride anyway. If it rains like that on Saturday I may ride anyway.

With allo of this man-made global warming the Canadian geese haven't flown north to cooler weather this year.

Canada rather than Canadian Geese is much more common, your the first I’ve heard to call them that, UK ones don’t migrate as such, they are mostly introduced though not wholly.

Would seem that as ever life is more complicated and in some places
including Florida and the Bay Area some migrate some are resident year
around, Would also appear that Canadian Geese is a less used name.

Migrating birds have due to GPS/tags and DNA been found to not do what
humans expected and the old books say they should!

It used to get so colod in Canada that the geese migrated down to the bay area. But then man-made global warming occiurred and it was staying so cool in the bay area that butterflies and Geese no longer had to leave the bay area as ot remained cool but
not too hot the year around..

I imagine that is simply part of a temerature cycle and it will return to as it was in my chilodhood with thousaands of Monarch and Tiger Swallowtail butterflies everywere . Now it is even rare to see common milkweed buterrflies in the bay area. Some of
this can be because of the immense growth in the bay area but the areas where I do most of my riding haven't changed much in the last 70 years.

I was there yesterday morning, but didn't see any Canada geese on the
pound or in the adjacent meadow, where they are usually found mowing
the grass lawn. I asked if anyone knew when the geese had left. One
of the local bird watchers vaguely recalled that she had last seen
them on the weekend of July 5-6.

It's quite easy to determine if the geese had been present in the last
day or two. Wherever they are, I can be sure they leave goose
droppings behind on the ground. Sorry, but I didn't take any samples
or photos. The first day or two, the droppings are dark black and
somewhat wet looking. After that, they're not so dark as they dry.
When wandering around the pond on Friday, I didn't see any fresh goose droppings, so I can safely assume they left the pond between July 5
and July 24. This is about a month later than their usual departure
    schedule.

    Oh, wait,
you're right, Jeff has never seen a Canadian goose.

According to Strava, I've been walking and hiking in the park since
07/22/2022 (about 3 years), which is when I started using Strava. My
guess(tm) is I was walking in the park since Covid-19 became a
problem, which would be Feb 2020.

Well, I can somewhat sympathize with Tom. I'm currently 77 years old
and am having memory retention problems. This appears as a problem
trying to remember the names of people, things, dates, phone numbers,
etc. (anomia or nominal aphasia). If I concentrate, I can usually
recall the forgotten item after about 5 minutes. Oddly, I can
normally recall the first letter of names but not the rest of the
name. Since Tom is 4 years older than me, I suspect he's having much
the same problem. However, instead of saving his posting and later
reviewing it for missing names, Tom just guesses. The problems really
being when Tom defends his incorrect guess as a "fact", instead of
asking for a correction or alternate name from his dwindling
    readership.

you're right, Jeff has never seen a Canadian goose. Well, dumbass,
that's because no one (including you) have ever seen a Canadian goose,
because there is no such animal. Much like you're the only person on the

Canada rather than Canadian Geese is much more common, your the first I’ve
    heard to call them that,

It doesn't matter what everyone else calls something, whatever tommy
chooses to call some is right.

UK ones don’t migrate as such, they are mostly
    introduced though not wholly.

Would seem that as ever life is more complicated and in some places
including Florida and the Bay Area some migrate some are resident year
around, Would also appear that Canadian Geese is a less used name.

that's where your wrong, Roger. "canadian" geese isn't less used, is
used by idiots who claim to have "read out" three libraries. I'd
challenge him to produce the title of any volume he read which used the
term "canadian geese" but we know how that would end up.

A very brief search seemed to suggest that it’s very occasionally used if wrong and well I just lost the will to argue!

I have certainly heard "Canadian geese" in meatspace conversations in
MA, where the birds are commonly seen. I have never tried, nor even
thought of, correcting such usage -- that would sort of make me an
    asshole, wouldn't it?

Migrating birds have due to GPS/tags and DNA been found to not do what
humans expected and the old books say they should!
