They are not disallowing a 10 tooth cassette gear but an overall gear. A 10 tooth cog and 56 tooth ring make a bike that under the correct conditions can ride at over 50 mph and a bicycle is not capable of doing speeds like that safely. A rider falling
off at that speed is like being hit by a car. Do you think that there is any innovation that will make a bicycle safer at those speeds?
We see crashes in the peloton all of the time but close observations show very few of them are at the 25 mph speeds that present bikes are desgned to do. Doubling that speed, even if only for TT's is probably not a good idea.
