• I'm going to need a new truck to carry the Catrikes

From Catrike Ryder@21:1/5 to All on Fri Jun 13 04:26:48 2025
We've decided to cut back to having only one vehicle.

One of the issues with Catrikes is that you can't carry them around on
the back of a car, so it has to be a truck that has a bed long enough
to carry the Catrikes. Another requirement is that it also has to
have a back seat. That eliminates intermediates like my Nissan
Frontier, so it and my wife's car have to go. They're both pretty long
    in the tooth.

We've been out shopping for trucks for a few days now that the stock
market is back up. I just sold a bunch of stock yesterday and had $30K
put into my checking account. That should be enough, but we also have
healthy saving accounts at our banks.

....So yes, the truck won't be new, probably 3/4 years old with
mileage 50 or below. That appears to be about what $30K and our trade
    in will buy.

Because we don't drive all that much anymore, the MPG is not a big
concern. It's amazing how many of the used trucks for sale around here
are 4wd. I'd prefer to not get a 4WD, but I would if everything else
is right. I've had a couple of 4WD trucks back when I lived in
Wisconsin, and my wife had a 4WD truck when she was back in Ohio. None
    of them were any problems.

My wife is a big truck fan and is leading the charge. She likes
sitting up high where she can see better and is enjoying the several
test drives we've done. We've picked out a couple more on the Internet
to look at and I'll be checking to see if they're still available.

    Note to Frank Krygowski:
One of them is all black.

    Tally ho.

    Tally ho.

I was concerned about the markets after I read about the Israelis
attacks even though I'd done my selling the previous day. Now I see
the markets have returned and even the cude oil prices haven't got all
    crazy.

    Note to Krygowski:
The black Ford F150 pickup is a no go.

Dealer wouldn't negotiate and I didn't want an "eco-boost" anyway, so
a silver Ram V8 is scheduled for this afternoon.

    Tally Ho

We bought the 2022 Silver Ram 1500 Big Horn crew cab yesterday. 5.7
Litre V8. Pictures after we pick it up, probably Tuesday. I have to
wait for the investment sales money to get to my checking account.

The bed length, at 67 in is shorter than my Frontier's bed 72 inches,
but it's wider than the Frontier and the 80 inch long Catrike
Expedition fits in diagonally. Now I have to sell the Frontier and buy
    a topper for the Ram.
