Ok we are past the helmet talk and now how about wearing some type of
glasses or eye shield for safety. In my case before I had the cataracts
and detached retina I routinely road with no sunglasses on overcast days
or riding in dark. However, now due to the protection of things getting
in you eyes I am always going to have some type of eye protection when riding.
This is different that the helmet question but where do you all sit? For
me it is safety issue I never considered. I could even deal with sunny
days and not sunglasses at times. Glare is a bigger issue.
I wear glasses religiously, on and off road. I got enough crap in my
eyes the first few years that I started riding that I vowed never to
ride without eye protection. After wasting hundreds and hundreds of
dollars over the years on glasses that get lost, scratched, sat on,
etch, I realized for short money you can get glasses that offer better
safety (ANSI Z87 rated) than expensive sports glasses, while offering anti-glare and full UV protection. No need to spend a lot of money.

$35 a dozen (now on sale).
I'm partial to clear because the transition of riding in and out of tree
shade with dark glasses can obscure the road/trail before my eyes
re-adapt.
At this price you can leave a couple pairs in your car, a couple pairs
hanging next to your helmet, a couple pairs on the porch, and still be
able to replace them as they get lost/scratched/damaged.
If you still prefer sunglassess, try these:

I bought them last christmas and gave them to everyone in my family as
stocking stuffers. I have two pair in my car and still have a few new
ones left in the box.
