• Microsoft Flight Simulator 98, Landing a Boeing 737

From [email protected]@21:1/5 to All on Fri Jun 20 13:00:31 2025
    Hi,

I have not used Microsoft Flight Simulator 98 for over 15 years.
Back then, I was practicing landing a Boeing 737 via VOR and a radio beacon radial trying to align the Boeing using the HSI display. When in range of the airport, two parallel lines would appear on the HSI display.

Now, I do NOT get that on my HSI as I approach the same airport.
I use the "World, Goto, Exact Location" to see where my plane is relative to the Airport's Tower position. My Latitude is close to the Airport's Latitude and my Longitude is West of the runway, 9R . My plane is moving Eastward toward the airport.

My altitude is around 7,000FT, slowly descending.

The NAV radio has the VOR frequency, but I am not sure if
the radio is turned on? If I click on the button, the button turns red!

Does anyone know what I may be overlooking?

    Thank You in advance, John

    UPDATE:

I found out that you must have the FS CD in the disc drive when you
launch FS. Not only scenery is loaded, but also what is needed for VOR landing.

    That solved my problem.
