  • Another 15 year old glider solo

    Today marked another successful journey for a young lady named Libby Russell, who I had the pleasure of towing for her solo flight. Things are really going in the right direction here at TCSC in Vero Beach. Now the ladies of the WSPA should send me an
    award for putting more young female glider pilots in the air. Old Bob, The Purist

    Well done OBTP. Just make sure that each of those youngsters has the lights on and that someone is home. That goes for the oldies too.

    Thanks Walt, it is always a great feeling to get another youngster in the controls of a glider on their solo flight. Our club has been very successful at getting our youth involved in soaring, there is nothing more rewarding than to tow a person on their
    solo flight. As I recall there was Katie, Carol, Ava, Kat, Aileen, Anna, Madison, and soon to be Taylor that I have towed on their first solo, and all are female pilots.
    Walt, we have many more youth pilots among the ranks, Caleb, Tyler, Thomas, are just a few of the young boys. How many clubs are doing as well as TCSC at developing new young glider pilots?: Old Bob, The Purist

    Thanks Andy, it was another good day here on the Treasure Coast, getting started early with Taylor, a very energetic 14 year old that is getting close to solo, she is really going in the right direction. Also Thomas a recent solo youth member came out
    and took another solo flight, then as usual in tropical Florida style the rains started moving in and things slowed down. Of our flights today there were 5 youth flights, and two new member flights, things are really going in the right direction in Vero
    Beach.
    I doubt that any other club is having the success with the youth program as we are, the next generation in well on the way! OBTP
