• Looking for LS7 Interior Paint

From Gianni Isotope@21:1/5 to All on Fri Mar 10 06:46:46 2023
I'd like to touch up (or repaint) the paint on the interior of my LS7. The color is a gray with black flakes. Does anyone know a source for the specific paint used by the factory?
    Thanks in advance!

    Specific paint?, no.
Way back when, people used "trunk paint" (as used in American trunks of cars) since you could get different base colors with a couple different color flecks in it. It came in a spray can and could be found in many auto parts stores.

I used trunk paint in one of my gliders years back. The only down side
is that it's soft when cured and wears quickly. But it's cheap and easy
to apply. Maybe a tougher clear coat over top of the trunk paint would
    be the trick.

I matched the gray base color in rattle-can spray and flicked the black splatter using a short bristle brush. Came out a pretty close match………….I’d practice until you get the look you want before attacking your cockpit!

I painted the interior with a gray epoxy primer that dries semi gloss. Then sprayed "speckles" with black base coat with spray gun pressure set very low to create speckle pattern. Technique is tricky. You only get one try, but the result was very good.

I once had a fuselage refinished, including the interior. The exterior was fine, but the interior gray paint used was problematic - it flaked easily. In the end, I had to scrape off this bad paint and spray painted it with automotive body paint with a
wet (glossy) finish. That was VERY durable but had outgassing issues that EVERYONE noticed. I assured them that I had plenty of airflow which carried these residual gasses away while in flight.
