Hi Doug,
The Oudie and Oudie 2 and Oudie IGC use flash memory for the program and maps and waypoint and other files. It is non-volatile. The memory is secure even if the main battery dies completely.
A logger security battery is used for the IGC security on Oudie IGC units. It has nothing to do with the main Oudie memory. the Oudie and Oudie 2 don't have any batteries like that.
If you accidentally delete files, or have memory corruption, Naviter can supply the files to complete erase the Oudie's memory. It is a long and somewhat complicated process, but it is well documented. I can help with it too. For the Oudie IGC, if the
main memory is erased and all the files re-installed, it will probably be necessary to re-seal the unit's logger's IGC security seal. I can do that here.
I have Oudie screens, batteries, and plastic housings in stock - so I can repair most Oudie issues quickly. I can also calibrate the logger in Oudie IGC units, and re-seal Oudie IGC units that lose their security seal.
Best Regards,

What items in an Oudie2 memory are volatile? If the battery dies what goes? And what is the process to restore it? Do I just update it like normal?

If it is an Oudie2-IGC, then the electronic seal will be lost and can
only be restored by Naviter or authorised agent.
