Someone else here also spotted it recently https://groups.google.com/g/rec.aviation.soaring/c/Wv-ukAk2lNk https://www.fiercewireless.com/wireless/qualcomm-iridium-offer-satellite-messaging-android-devices

Besides that with Qualcomm, there is also the so-called rugged brand Bullitt jointly producing a phone with Motorola shortly - Quarter 1 this year, they say - with Mediatek chipset, and satellite connectivity Skylo, which may be an Inmarsat partner

    https://www.mobileworldlive.com/devices/news-devices/bullitt-set-for-sat-to-phone-launch-on-upcoming-moto/
    https://www.satellitetoday.com/iiot/2023/01/06/skylo-expands-satellite-access-for-iot-and-smart-phones-with-quectel-and-bullitt/

Something else I saw suggested $4 a month for modest messaging use that would probably satisfy most of us, unless people want to conduct half their business on there too.

I wonder how much the phones will cost though. I can imagine availability on only the several hundred quid or dollars phones to start with, so it might take a while to filter down to more modest models I might go for in a year or two.
