Good Grief, how does one RENEW a membership on this P.O.S. web site?
Just wasted 10 minutes and cannot figure it out!
Dave, settle down and understand that it took only 72 hours to get to the moon, yet we have been struggling with this Jurassic website for a long period of time. Try to get to the magazine section and you must log in once again. We should all just throw
in a few bucks to have the website rebuilt and making it functional. I will donate the first 250 bucks. OBTP

Mine is set to auto renew but it should be under your name at the top -> "Membership Subscriptions". From there it should have your status and you can click "View" and the rest should pop up.

Just one advantage of being a life member since the '70's.

Agreed, things for actual members can be tough to get to/find.

Well, I first tried the technical approach by right clicking in the
website and selecting "View HTML source for this page" or some such.
Then I searched for "renew" and found 19 instances of the word, "renew".
Not being an HTML guru, I went back to the ssa.org home page and
searched <Ctrl-F> for the word "renew" there it was right near the top
of the home page. Then, I suppose, it's just a matter of following the instructions.

But, somehow my membership expired and, as I've seen nothing of value in
the magazine in a long time, I just let it go.

IIRC, to renew your SSA membership, you have to go to the "store" (a
third login!) and there essentially buy a gift membership for yourself.
Last year I managed to mangle it so that I got a new membership
number, and had to ask them to cancel that and assign it to my old number.

Here is the email I sent to the SSA last year after it got messed up:

"Tried to renew my SSA membership electronically, as always it was
difficult. I have never been able to login to the "new web site", only
the "old" one hidden within members.ssa.org. And I gather the SSA
"store" is yet another login. This is very confusing. When I used my
email address ________ in this renewal, I got a message saying an
account already exists with this email address, please log in. Which I
    don't know how.

So I used another email address I have, ________. Got a reply email
that a new account has been created with that address. So now my
"member profile" is brand new? Did my renewal get linked to my old
membership? Will I now get all SSA emails twice? And will I have even
bigger problems renewing next year? All I wanted was to renew the
existing membership. Please delete the ________ e-address (and the new
member profile) and retain the ________ address.

And please make *everything* work with one login.

Also, I hate handing 3% of every transaction to the banksters. You
should set up a way to pay that does not use a credit card - and does
not require a paper check. Direct ACH transfer. It's 2022!"

Stunning indeed. Maybe this year I'll just mail a paper check to stay
    out of trouble.

They told me last year that the auto-renew is no longer available due to security issues. So I renewed with the understanding that I would get the magazine issues that I ended up missing - didn't happen.
