  • Libelle mafia

    It’s pretty nice to see a young pilot on the cover of Soaring magazine in his Libelle. I’ve known the pilot Johnathan Hart for a few years now. Very pleasant young man.

    During Region 8 this year my stiffest competition was from another Libelle flown by Dave Reusch. (Old Dog) (Another Soaring magazine cover Libelle.) At one point in the competition both Libelle’s happened to share a thermal. (Johnathan wasn’t in the
    competition.) I announced on the radio, “great we have a Libelle mafia!”

    Libelle’s are just really cool old gliders!

    This is a great thread, our club TCSC has a Libelle that was donated to the club and we had it refinished to new condition. What a great ship for a club, we encourage our youth members to fly the Libelle whenever possible. Old Bob, The Purist

    Nice gliders to fly and look at. Mine is contest number JRs. Club juniors get the keys after they get PP certificate. 3 have flown their first contest in it. More to come I hope.

    Haha, and Old Dog is the Libelle Mafia Cappo di Tutti Cappi. Don’t forget that he is an exceptional pilot.
