• Composite Repair in Northern Colorado or Eastern Utah

From John Murphy@21:1/5 to All on Fri Sep 8 22:24:57 2023
I have some minor cosmetic gelcoat repair I need done on the wing of my 304CZ.

Nothing is available locally, and the boat repair shops aren't interested. I could travel to Northern Colorado or to areas arouind Salt Lake City. Any suggestions?

While it might be too far, there is Paul Gaines' shop in Kingman AZ. https://www.alphazulucomposites.com/

One Air Composites (Fidel Ramirez) or Composite Aircraft Repair (Robert Mudd) at Moriarty, NM are probably closer than Paul Gaines in Kingman, AZ.

Thanks for the recommendations. Robert Mudd did great work on a G102 I owned years ago. I was looking for Northern Colorado or Eastern Utah because I'm heading that way to elk hunt in a month and thought I'd drop off the glider on the way out.

Is Mudd still in business? We had a Grob 103 there around 2017 (?) and he was considering retirement then.

Yes, Robert Mudd is still here. You have to remember that for independent , one-man aircraft repair operations, retirement isn't really retirement. It's more like going from being under-employed to fully unemployed. There isn't a pension plan.

Robert is still active and busy. He's been talking about "retirement"
for the 13+ years that I've known him!

Robert is taking very few jobs now.

He is accepting some Grob work, as he is USA Grob.

He is also now the USA rep for a new FES sailplane from Albastar Slovania.
