Was Heinlein the originator of "Rods from God"? I can't speak to the math
but I would think any semi-massive object flung from the moon to the Earth would be an incredibly destructive weapon. And no radiative fallout either.
My only question would be accuracy. Could you terminally guide such a projectile at those velocities and hit a relatively small target such as Cheyanne Mountain?

How accurate is a re-entry vehicle? I've seen a published claim of a CEP of
100 meters, which I can neither confirm nor deny.
The "Ninja" AGM-114RX9 can target a specific person, it's literally the
bullet with their name on it.
The Wiki credits Rods from God to Jerry Pournelle, from when he was a
defense analyst, before writing sci-fi. In his Chaos Manor blog he deferred
to Stefan Possony as the original source of much innovation. In an informal setting like lunch or a party ideas bounce around and several people may contribute improvements to the final product. BTDT
