Sergio Perez is aiming to win the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix to repay
his Red Bull team after a "disaster" in Monaco.

The Mexican had a nightmarish weekend in Monte Carlo, with a crash in qualifying putting him at the back of the grid. He went on to finish
Sunday's race in 16th place.

Consequently, Perez hopes to bounce back as F1 heads to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

"Monaco was a disaster for me," Perez said.

"Everything that could have gone wrong went wrong. So this weekend is
all about starting again and making sure we get back to the high
standards we have set all season.

"I want to repay my team for all their hard work with a good result in Barcelona."

After failing to score points in Monaco, Perez has slipped back in the championship battle with teammate Max Verstappen.

The Dutchman now leads the title race by 39 points, meaning that Perez
is aware of the need to pick up some wins in order to close the gap.

"We know we have the quickest car out there on the right day and this
circuit should suit us," Perez explained.

"I just need to make sure I have a perfect weekend from start to finish.

"I need to be consistent to maintain any pressure on Max in the
Championship and I need to pick up some wins. If I can get it right here
the win is achievable and that's the aim, as always."
