In fairness, he had just had half of his side-pod ripped open through no fault of his own. However, he does seem to have forgotten some of the sharp-elbowed moves he used to pull when he was GR's age.

In a car significantly faster than Russell's (faster than everyone
except Sergio), and with the confidence of his ability to pass everyone
-- even in a sprint race -- one might have opted to discretion on those opening laps. So I might suggest that perhaps having his sidepod ripped
open was, to some degree, a fault of his own.
And yes, Max does have a bit of a history of getting his elbows out.
Beauty -- and fault -- lies in the eye of the beholder.

Could he have slowed a little and missed Verstappen? Yeah... ...almost certainly.

Folks, they ALL whine.
OK... ...not literally "all".
But the simple fact is that to get to the highest level in racing
clearly takes the kind of person who is very likely to be a self-centred ego-maniac.
If it seems like Verstappen whines the most at the moment, it's because
the microphone is in front of him most often.

So what in the world are you doing on Saturday afternoon
during the first CACC race at Mission, typing on a
computer, posting on the internet / newsgroups ?

Driving the car I could probably do.
Prepping the car.
Loading the trailer.
Unloading the trailer.
Etc.?
Not so much.

I know those feelings very, very well.
And it just keeps getting tougher as you get older.
Good news is I've now got the Stohr rocket car,
the Elden, and the 962 sold. It would be nice to
finish 'neatening up' and get the last one sold.
If not, well, guess then it's someone else's problem !!!
As you know, I've generally attacked the big ICSCC schedule.
I'm missing this years opener at Portland.
I do intend on doing our / IRDC first race at Pacific Raceways.
I've got a hernia.
I've got surgery schedule for May 11...

I've got a hernia.

But I do not think that that attitude was so in the past.
What seems to have changed?
Many spectators have talked about how they had pleasant
interchanges with F1 drivers in years past.
But, now days !!!
Could you imagine being assigned (and required to complete a year)
as something like a college freshman with someone
like Max, or Lewis, or Fernando as your dormitory roommate?
Or if, by some fluke of disaster, you were stuck on a regular
commercial flight in economy class and had to sit next
to any of those for an international flight?
If it seems like Verstappen whines the most at the moment, it's
because the microphone is in front of him most often.
Perhaps.

Edmund - you have form on racism going back years. You had a chance to address it a few seasons ago (thread "Pit Error - The Definitive Word").
You demonstrated that you not only have a specific issue with Hamilton,
but confirmed that the issue is the colour of his skin.
