• Is the Barcelona Grand Prix Worth Going To?

From Martin Harran@21:1/5 to All on Mon Dec 26 09:01:41 2022
I've never been to Grand Prix and doing so is high up on my bucket
list. There's a good looking offer going on Groupon at the moment, 7
nights HB in a 4* hotel and a 3 day general admission ticket for
500-800 depending on day of departure and airport [1]. Main downside
is that the hotel is in Lloret de Mar which is 2-3 hours from the
    circuit.

I know Barcelona is not rated as one of the great circuits but would
it be good for a first grand prix experience?

[1] We'd probably fly from Bristol so nearer 500 pp for us. https://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/ga-spanish-grand-prix-with-hotel-and-return-flights

That sounds like a quite reasonably priced fun
    vacation to me.

Barcelona was a very enjoyable place to spend
a day for us. We could have certainly enjoyed
a longer stay. Very interesting cathedral that
I'm betting will never get finished, fun open top
double decker tourist buses that swing by fun tourist
places and let you hop off, then back on a later one,
    the old Roman wall.

If I lived near an airport in the southern UK,
I'd be very tempted to go on that one.

Perhaps not everyone's 'cup of tea', but I generally enjoy
looking out bus windows at everyday sights in foreign
    countries.
(Lots of people with little to do watch a TV for 4-6
    hours each day!)
Then there is always a thought of skipping the practice day.

    that is a bad thought
i would be at the track for the whole event
    including all the support races

    Fair enough.
The beauty of freedom is that we can each make
    our own choices.

But anyway, back to Martin making his choices,
I feel I have been on too many 14 hour plane flights
recently. But, if I lived in easy drive distance of
Bristol UK airport, with it's 2 1/2 hour flight
to Barcelona, (unless on investigation this 'deal'
by groupon is BAD) I would absolutely go on that trip.

Wither real fun or not, you will probably always
remember that week. How about the other 51 ?

And three days at the track, all practices,
and all support races is pretty good.

But some might prefer to think of it as
    Day 1 = Arrival,
Day 7 = total disruption of Departure,
    Day 2, 3, 4 at the track.
Then only #5 to visit the city of Barcelona,
and #6 to enjoy a Spanish Mediterranean beach.

---- Hmmm , YMMV, but another beach day might
    be very nice.
