When I read your post I thought I had read something about him having a
crash some time ago and having read the article you linked to I saw this
in the comments:
"Not sure where your misinformation on Newey comes from. His bike
accident was July. He was last seen in Silverstone in the paddock."
Another comment says he was walking about on the grid in Turkey though I
do not remember seeing him, maybe was not on TV.
