This article reports results of using an AI-based
scheme for lossless compression of audio and
image data. Its performance exceeds that of flac
for audio and png for images.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I tried it on several large .wav files. It achieved better
compression than flac. The then-decompressed file was
identical to the original. I'll see if I can find the
website again and post here. I left it behind because
the time to transfer the large files isn't worth the
gain. It'd be a different story if it ran locally.

Significantly better ? In the context that file-size and bandwidth is a relatively trivial factor these days ....

The gain over flac and Monkey's Audio was on the order of 20%.
That's not insignificant considering the sizes of the files,
but I'm not willing to wait very long. I am also not willing
to depend upon a website for the operation; what if it
goes away? I'd reconsider if they released a version that
    ran locally.

Forgot to add: my Internet upload speed is a measly
    3 MB/s if everything's working perfectly. That's a
long wait for a 500+ MB file!
