"here's Tom Cole lauding Jordan for wanting to cut Social
Security, Medicare, and Medicaid"
Congrats to the future Speaker Jordan.
Why are repeating the lies of the poster rupar? I listen to the
speech and he never says cut. In fact he references what was done in
83. No cuts then. I read of a Biden plan that is strategically
similar to 83. Are you claiming his plan is to "cut" SS?
How does one "get at the real drivers of debt" without cuts if you're a
Republican? Raise taxes?
I have a cut....let's cut Student loan debt forgiveness.
Student loans are repaid into the Social Security fund?
How about we cut 2/3 of federal non-military employees?
That has the advantage of ruining government's ability to function,
another thing Republicans are working towards. We can replace them with corporate-sponsored lobbyists.
But that won't be enough so there will still have to be tax increases for these
committed entitlements. Those discussions are taking place but lying fucktards
like you keep sabotaging them with your idiotic fear mongering and lying.
Roll back Trump to begin. If I'm "fear mongering," reassure me by taking delaying the retirement age and foregoing benefit raises and new revenue sources (ie. tax the rich) off the table.
Bipartisan commissions are where you hide unpopular policy.
You know all this and that just makes you a lying POS party fucktard
which is the real reason this problem never gets addressed. Shitheads
like you immediately politicize it and start screaming Grannie off a
cliff crap like Pelosi did.
Well, Republicans do want to cut Social Security and it's good they
can't say so in public.

A typical pledge:
"The RSC Budget & Spending Task Force cannot be more clear: we will not
now or ever support cutting or delaying retirement benefits for any
senior in or near retirement."
But for those not in or near retirement?
The way you approach it with your scare mongering you'll get the across the board 23% cut
for everyone.
The built-in mechanism that will preserve SS indefinitely? Better than a collapse of the system.
https://www.americanprogress.org/article/the-house-republican-study-committee-budget-proposes-harsh-changes-to-social-security/
"The budget would also make myriad changes to SSDI by cutting benefits, reducing eligibility, and decreasing access to representation in the
appeals process. All told, the RSC budget proposes $718 billion in cuts
to the Social Security program over 10 years and further spending
reductions in later years. "
Social security is going broke. And with just over 3 workers instead of the 6+ for every retiree when it was first
enacted you can see how funding it is a huge problem.
That "problem" is built in to the structure of the system. The
Republican war on life-expectancy will offset that a bit. Too bad
increased immigration is off the table.
And "broke" is an exaggeration. At worst, it will carry on indefinitely
at the 80% level.
Bet when talking about cuts here's what Biden actually did.
Biden voted to raise the retirement age from 65 to 67,
Along with everyone else who supported Reagan's SS reform.
tax Social Security benefits for the first time,
In 1983.
and delay cost-of-living adjustments to preserve the solvency of the OASI trust fund.[401]
That bracketed bit gives away your cut'n'paste.
I suppose you wouldn't call those "cuts".
I've had forty years to get used to those, but I didn't support them
either, especially the retirement age delay that reduces opportunity for younger workers and wears on those with physically demanding jobs or
health problems. However, my sympathy for those earning over $400k is
limited.
