No, that would be the Evanston Township High School District 202 Board
of Education, racial identity not mentioned, espousing a separate but

So the plan is to have a pansy class? That'll get 'em to sign up.

Here's some reality for you. It's not the white kids harassing 'em for
doing their homework and getting some good grades.
There's real aggression in schools and it's not hidden nor micro.
And FYI, you couldn't just sign up for an AP class. You had to qualify by doing well in the prereq classes and then you could sign up.
I don't think there is a large pool of qualified kids.
Bottom line...woke liberal wimp lax discipline lost control of many public schools and they pull this kind of BS to cover it up.

While the “acting white” theory used to be pretty popular to bring up in debates about black academic achievement there’s a catch: It’s not true.

At best, it's a very creative interpretation of inadequate research and anecdotal evidence. At worst, it's a messy attempt to transform the near-universal stigma attached to adolescent nerdiness into an
indictment of black culture, while often ignoring the systemic
inequality that contributes to the country's racial achievement gap.

This guy trashes the existing research and then equates popularity to
a measure of non-peer pressure. I will tell you now that no kid is going to count the kid who slaps him around in the hallway for acing a test as a "friend".

This shit isn't new and I witnessed it regularly when I was in HS.
Here's my anecdotal story. Wendell, the black classroom gangster who was always in
a fight with someone was caught cheating off Phil (also black) during a test in
Print Shop. Obviously not an AP class but a Vocational Ed.
Both were being punished and getting a zero, I spoke up as I sat right behind 'em
and just said Phil didn't do anything.
What did I get for sticking up for Phil? Phil tries to slice my face open with his 1" finger nails.
I had to flee the classroom. Later I see Phil who wasn't a big tough kid like Wendell
and asked him WTF dude? He said, sorry but Wendell will kill me if I didn't go down with him.
I guarantee Wendell isn't on anyone's "friend list" in some BS popularity survey.
This has nothing to do with who has the most friends.
And friends don't save you when the beating comes. They'll show up to watch it.

Maybe Phil and Wendell would have preferred a segregated class with no
    white boys butting in.

Creative and anecdotal is the best that could be said for your claims.

Since you've reject the piece on the basis of my quote, it's time for
    some of the cites:

Vox: In 2009, the authors of an American Sociological Review article,
“The Search For Oppositional Culture Among Black Students,” concluded
that high-achieving black students were in fact especially popular among
their peers, and that being a good student increased popularity among
black students even more so than for white students.

"To date, no scholarly research has tested the validity of the process

    acting White hypothesis."

    And on the other hand:

    https://www.jstor.org/stable/2112896

"The Attitude-Achievement Paradox Among Black Adolescents

Many black youths and adults express a high regard for education even
though their academic performance is poor. Utilizing a sample of 1,193
high school seniors, this article resolves the attitude-achievement
paradox by demonstrating that attitudes toward education are
    multidimensional."
