• What company will follow in Bud's footsteps now?

From ScottW@21:1/5 to All on Sun Apr 30 20:09:03 2023
The trans activists are bitching at them...calling 'em cowards.

“At this moment, it is absolutely critical for Anheuser-Busch to stand in solidarity with Dylan and the trans community,” the letter began. “However, when faced with anti-LGBTQ+ and transphobic criticism, Anheuser-Busch’s actions demonstrate a
profound lack of fortitude in upholding its values of diversity, equity, and inclusion to employees, customers, shareholders, and the LGBTQ+ community.”

Brown criticized the beer company, calling them cowards for its response to the controversy.

“This not only lends credence to hate-filled rhetoric, but it also exposes Anheuser-Busch to long-term business impacts with employees and customers increasingly looking for steadfast commitment to LGBTQ+ corporate citizenships,” the letter continued.

LoL. You can't win with these shitheads. They act like they have overwhelming numbers. They don't. Not even close. They just apparently exist on social media. I've never actually met a trans person and I only know of one who has. I know a lot of
gay people, but no trans people.
And the one gay person I know didn't really like trans people. They described them as excessively fake and annoyingly insecure. Eggshells but already cracked. I can see that.

Anyway, only a complete lunatic would want to cater to that crowd and follow in the footsteps of bud.

Probably me. A first cousin once removed. They is (??) probably more of two spirited or
indeterminate gender than a trans. Not taking any treatments or body mods. They is (???) a very nice person who stays to themselves, doesn't force their gender agenda onto other people. this person has a
birth name that happens to fit both male and female identities, and has a presence that is neither clearly male nor female. I took me about 20 years to learn that they is (??) actually a biological male.

"Per the Morning Consult survey, which was conducted about two weeks
after the backlash began, a majority (53%) of beer drinkers in the
United States say they would feel favorable toward a brand that works
with a transgender spokesperson, compared with 47% of U.S. adults
overall who said the same. Beer consumers were also more favorable
toward this type of marketing partnership than were beauty,
    entertainment, pharmaceutical and auto consumers.

The survey also offered a demographic profile of Americans who said they
drink beer at least once a month, which constitutes just over one-third
of all U.S. adults. Monthly beer drinkers lean more Democratic and
younger than those who said they do not drink beer at all, suggesting
that the Bud Light controversy may not materially impact its brand
    long-term."

    Here's reality

During the week ended April 22 — the most recent industry data available — Bud Light sales plunged 21%, accelerating from a 17% slide a week earlier and an initial weekly drop of 6% when the controversy kicked off during the first week of April,
according to Nielsen IQ and Bump Williams Consulting.

Meanwhile, beer volumes — the number of cases sold, whether in packs of 12, 18 or 24 cans — dropped an even steeper 26% last week, versus a 21% drop a week earlier and an initial drop of 11%, according to the data.

Yes, a drop for a brand that was already losing market share. Maybe it
will bounce back as people forget about the fuss or maybe it won't.

That's the stereotype. The survey is the reality but it's kind of
you to assume I'm more correct than a professional marketing firm.

    Here's reality

During the week ended April 22 — the most recent industry data
available — Bud Light sales plunged 21%, accelerating from a 17%
slide a week earlier and an initial weekly drop of 6% when the
controversy kicked off during the first week of April, according to Nielsen IQ and Bump Williams Consulting.
Yes, a drop for a brand that was already losing market share. Maybe it
will bounce back as people forget about the fuss or maybe it won't.
Meanwhile, beer volumes — the number of cases sold, whether in packs
of 12, 18 or 24 cans — dropped an even steeper 26% last week, versus
a 21% drop a week earlier and an initial drop of 11%, according to
    the data.
A-B won't get that back by ceasing marketing to the young, hip, and
LGBTQ+. We'll see how they do during Pride Month.

All the mass market lite beers were in decline as the beer market itself
was down and every brewer is putting out multiple lite and liter competing brews.

Lot of drinking going on during pride month?
    Drowning in sorrow.

Corona had a rumor problem back in the pre-internet days but I believe
they recovered, at least until the coronavirus was a thing.

It was a rumor of a rumor.
Corona has a real taste like piss problem. Any beer that needs a lime wedge to be
    tolerable shouldn't be called beer.

Modelo's the rage that cracks me up. It doesn't look like, but it sure as hell tastes like Miller.
I did a taste test with my $20/12 pack popping kids friends. They all failed. And they still felt like they wanted to spend twice the money even after they knew they
couldn't tell 'em apart without looking. Miller is much lighter and clearer.

Now Modelo Negra is ok and regular isn't bad, but I'm not a paying a premium for Miller.

A specific number? Looks like lose, lose if they bow down to a
shrinking part of their market and give up on the growing part. Beer
marketing has an annoying element because it's meant to hook
young customers they can keep for life.

I doubt few over forty bought more beer due to "Wassup" or the Budweiser

The corn notes resemble Miller, whose "Champagne of beers" slogan has
run afoul of the EU label police.

Miller is gross. At least their lager is. How did that swill of a beer
become some kind of benchmark? Did Don Lemon opine about it?

Scott's friends couldn't tell it from Modelo Especial in a blind
tasting, making it not worth the price difference to him, but they're
still willing to pay extra, maybe for the cachet of an EU-compliant label:

Around here it is. All the Mexican beers that used to be cheaper have skyrocketed.
They got bought by the multi-nationals who dumped a bunch of $$ into advertising
and then charged like it's an EU import.

Since Modelo is the leading import followed by Corona, the premium
