• I have the solution for Manchin

From ScottW@21:1/5 to All on Wed Dec 7 10:51:30 2022
Manchin may have gotten his first taste of what this average rank-and-file status will be like after his long sought-after permitting bill was excluded from the National Defense Authorization Act, likely killing the legislation unless lawmakers revive it
    in the next Congress.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) initially cut a deal with Manchin to include the energy-permitting legislation in the annual government funding bill in exchange for his support of the Inflation Reduction Act.

    So Joe....switch parties.

You can be the 50th vote once again....and f' these back stabbing lying bastards all at the same time.

Republicans blocked Manchin's deal, not Schumer.

Sen. Joe Manchin's legislation to spur oil and gas drilling was left out
of the must-pass national defense bill after conservative Senate
Republicans and progressive House Democrats raised objections...

A few also took umbrage with being asked to support the permitting bill
and reward Manchin for helping deliver a big win for Democrats. Sen.
Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., even described the deal as a"political payback
    scheme."

"Sen. Manchin, if you think you’re going to get 60 votes to get the sweeteners," said Graham, "you need to think long and hard about what
    you’re doing."

    End quote.

With oil demand dropping, it's hard to call for higher production anyway.

Demand is down as our economy slows and China has been in lockdown for a month.

Demand will return if the still high costs of energy don't choke it out and oil production is fairly long leadtime development anyway.

They still haven't caught up with all those leases they bought two years

We just went under 5$ for the first time in a year. Hardly worth celebrating.

OH BS. I'm so tired of that line. If dems wanted it in...republicans weren't going to shut down gov't over it.
But they didn't push their caucus thereby giving the appearance of republicans having a meaningful say in it.
And they stupidly didn't give it to Joe and take credit for it. Nice job Mitch....but it doesn't make Reps
have any real responsibility for the outcome. It was theater.
If Joe had gotten R support (and it's really hard to understand why they opposed beyond
petty F Joe Manchin for caving earlier) it still wouldn't have made it in
cuz dems weren't ever going to let it in.
Dems made the promise and they didn't keep it. All the R's did was act stupid and petty to give them some cover for it.
