I just got a strike of inspiration.

We all know of the Casimir effect where plates are pushed together by vacuum fluctuations, aka particles that pop in and out of existence.

What if these particles don't pop in and out, but really vibrate along the w axis, a fourth spacial dimension perpendicular to the x, y and z axis's.

If we could determine the frequency of these vibrations, we should be able to amplify them, and thus send a signal in the fourth dimension.

Perhaps speed of light is infinite if we go far enough that way. This would allow FTL communication without causal violations.

A large array of these could send a directional signal, and also listen for anyone else out there.

Having slept on it, I realize this would still allow causal violations.

What if the particles are not vibrating, but just sitting still along the 4th dimension and then just popping in as we pass through them. They would the Aether, stationary in respect to something, but having a common frame of reference, FTL communication
would be possible.
