I missed the chance to see the strip, but this reminds me...

of the Pellucidar novels of Edgar Rice Burroughs, in which the people of
the inside of our hollow Earth... are essentially ageless because their environment doesn't impose an awareness of the passage of time at a fixed uniform rate on them.
