• Tintin - what it says on the back covers

From Lenona@21:1/5 to All on Tue Sep 19 07:38:42 2023
As many of you know, an old edition of any Tintin book - going back to the 1970s or earlier, that is - has a plot description on the back cover. (Not a synopsis, of course; that would reveal the ending!)

I stumbled on an eBay copy that had something extra underneath that I'd never seen before - and I can't find this description even in Google Books!

"Tintin is an intrepid reporter, and Snowy his faithful dog. Together, their adventures take them to the four corners of the world - and even into space. With them on their travels go their inseparable companions - the tempestuous Captain Haddock, the
twin detectives Thomson and Thompson, and the gloriously vague Professor Calculus. The Adventures of Tintin are told in a series of books, each with more than 700 pictures in full colour, and each containing a complete story about Tintin and Snowy."

(It seems to be a first-edition translation from 1959 - in hardcover.)
