• RIP Chris Browne

From [email protected]@21:1/5 to All on Wed Feb 8 20:39:28 2023
Funny it hasn't been mentioned but on the same week Hagar The Horrible celebrates its' 50th anniversary, Chris Browne has passed away.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Hagar now.

    The ex-Air Pirate!

    From a few years ago:
"By 1971 he had joined fellow artist Dan O’Neill, Bobby London,
Shary Flenniken and Ted Richards in a group called 'the Air Pirates.'"

"Among [Gary's] current assignments is working on the art for the comic strip “Hagar the Horrible.”

London continued with his Dirty Duck character in NatLamp and Playboy,
and is still around (complaining) on Facebook.

Flenniken had a run with her Trots and Bonnie in NatLamp but doesn't
seem to have done much comics work since.

Richards turned from comics to web design in the 1980s.

O'Neill still shows up occasionally online; his website is dead but
Facebook occasionally has a new (political) cartoon and has been
announcing reprints of his Odd Bodkins.

Credit Drew Friedman's /Maverix and Lunatix/ for some of that info.

He also got the "Popeye" daily cancelled (whether it was actually his
    fault or not).
