    So what happened to the whole scouting/kids are fine/dads learn to work together
    storyline that started last week? Today's strip is a total non-sequiter.

    He could still tie everything together. Hawthorne and Fillmore did
    not feature in the scouting storyline. There could be an unexpected
    plot twist that links Hawthorne's search for a shell with the battle
    with the whale.
