• Cincinnati Post Comic Strip Index Retro 2006-2007 (The End)

From [email protected]@21:1/5 to All on Thu Feb 10 21:49:03 2022
With the news that Cincinnati Post archives are now on newspapers.com, let's wrap up the fine work Brian Henke started with the yearly Post Retro Comic Strip Indexes.

2006 saw two changes in the Post comics roster. First on July 24, Ziggy was dropped and replaced by one-time E------r (1976-1992) strip Herman. Ironically, Ziggy would eventually resurface in the E------r in July 2021.

Next to go was another former E------r strip The Boondocks as Aaron MacGruder initially went on sabbatical and later ended its' run. The Post was one of few papers to actually carry rerun Boondocks strips to the very end before being replaced on November
27 with the return of Robotman after a 17-year absence although by then the strip had been retitled Monty.

2007 began with the Post replacing long-time resident Family Circus (when Bil Keane was still alive and well before son Jeffy resorted to using recycled material) with the return of Kit 'n Carlyle (after a 23-year absence) and 365 days later, the Post
was gone. Of the 21 strip the Post ran on that final day, only four would cross over to the E------r. They were Peanuts (They ran only the Sunday strip from 1974-2000), Dilbert, Pearls Before Swine and Get Fuzzy. All four strips remain in the paper to
    this very day.

And now the final comics roster on December 31, 2007.

The Cinncinatti E. is one of the many papers still carrying 7 days a week in 100% rerun mode when not yet withdrawn by Andrews-McMeel from papers for good Get Fuzzy, even 100% rerun mode Peanuts and For Better or For Worse as well as mix of new and rerun
strips every day/week Pickles have no effect. And the Cinncinatti E. never carries daily rerun mode/first run Sunday mode Doonesbury for many years now.

Was "Listen Honey" a local Cincinnatti Post comic strip that ran from the early 1980's until the C. Post's paper's demise?
