I've never seen it, but I've heard that MeTV chops off
    the top and bottom of it's shows for fake widescreen;
if that is acceptable then so is chopping the rest of
the show. So the outrage of MeTV begins with their
butchery of the picture, and if that bad engineering
passes, it's bound to get worse.

It's not "quite" that horrible. I'm looking at
a Perry Mason episode right not and... it's got
black bars ("letterboxing") on the sides.

HOWEVER, they're about half the width they "should be".

So it looks like MeTV is doing a roughly 1/2 "expansion",
for want of a better term. So yes, some top and bottom
is "off the screen", but not as messed up as with some
    of the other folk.

(Of course I'd much rather a full letterbox, etc. But
I'd also like calorie free seven layer cake..)

MeTV seems to be slightly squishing, cropping off the top and bottom, and putting pillar boxes on the left and right, in a desperate attempt to
    offend absolutely everybody.

There's the conspiracy theory that TV companies degrade
their programming on purpose to make the commercials look
better. MeTV is also doing that with it's content.

(It's not a "key" mythology for me, and I would be well quits with them.)
