I suspect that they might do a Romana type regeneration, where she
gets several tries at different bodies before settling on the actual
actor/actress who is eventually cast.
Wasn't Romana's final form in a previous ep (but not Romana, obviously)?
Yes

Yes, Lalla Ward before playing Romana II in S17 was Princess
Astra in "The Armageddon Factor". (The last episode of the

I wonder if Princess Astra was an influence for Romana's fional form?
Yes
I noticed that Colin Baker appeared in an ep during Peter Davidson's

Peter Capaldi was in both DW and TW before assuming the role of the
Doctor - they even hung a lampshade on his appearance in Fires of
Pompeii.
And David Tennant took a minor role in an animated DW because he
thought that was the only way he could be a part of the show, since
the live action restart wasn't then on the cards.

Bad is relative. I'm 60 this year, nothing is like it was
when I was 10... <shrugs> that's just the way it is. Does
that make it bad, or is it just not what suits my entertainment
preferences now?
"Coronation Street" is probably the only [other] major show on
UK television still being aired from when I was ten. I wonder,
do their fans still watch every week and bemoan the fact that
the Rovers Return ain't what it used to be - as there's too much >non-alcoholic beer on sale, or the show should be cancelled as
there's Asians running the corner shop, or claim the show
finished when Hilda Ogden left, and are there people out there
that want to see Deirdre Barlow shagging Mike Baldwin retconned?
Yeah, don't like it... just switch it off and live your life...
it's only a TV show at the end of the day. Things change. That's
life.

It was a deliberate choice made by Romana to look like Princess
Astra after 'trying out' some other bodies at the beginning of
"Destiny of the Daleks".

There was a Doctor Who cartoon?
He had a minor part in "Scream of the Shalka".
Why haven't I heard about this before now?
You've probably heard of the webcast, you just probably didn't
realise that David Tennant was in it... he was uncredited at
the time.
Tennant also played the Doctor in the animated shows / mini-series:
- "The Infinite Quest", along with Freema Agyeman's Martha Jones.
- "Dreamland", with his now-wife Georgia Moffett playing the
companion Cassie Rice.
A proper animated Doctor Who TV series has been proposed a few times,
but never reached the point of actually being made:
- "The 'New' Doctor Who" (Nelvana Limited in 1971)
- "Doctor Who: The Animated Series" (Karen McCoy in 1997)
- "Doctor Who - The Animated Series" (I.N.J. Culbard in 2002)
- "Dcotor Who the Animated Series" (Dan Norton in 2010 - 2013)
<https://tardis.fandom.com/wiki/Doctor_Who:_The_Animated_Series_(disambiguation)>
Probably others as well. Plus of course the animated versions of "lost"
episodes and various computer games.

Yes, Lalla Ward before playing Romana II in S17 was Princess

Weeelllll .... I hate Fish!! One Friday evening, maybe thirty years ago,
I was visiting my eldest Sisters place for Dinner. My sister KNEW I
hated Fish. My sister served up Fish! I ate Fish!!
I mean, I couldn't set a bad example for my young Nieces and Nephew, could I??
I'm sure my sister served the Fish on purpose!!

I wonder,
do their fans still watch every week and bemoan the fact that
the Rovers Return ain't what it used to be - as there's too much
non-alcoholic beer on sale, or the show should be cancelled as
there's Asians running the corner shop, or claim the show
finished when Hilda Ogden left, and are there people out there
that want to see Deirdre Barlow shagging Mike Baldwin retconned?
Many of the older fans of Coronation Street do complain about the awful
new storylines, horrible characters, etc. and some of them have stopped >watching it. The show has changed over the years, but it has been a
slow change as old characters leave and new characters are added. (The
actor William Roache was in the very first episode and is still in it
today, holding the world record for the actor playing the same role for
the longest time.)
The TV Guide here in New Zealand often has fan complaint letters about >Coronation Street, but mainly it is due to the fact that the network
used to keep moving the show's timeslot, bumping the show completely,
and/or scheduling it too late for the oldies and workers to watch and
the re-run at lunchtime being no good for those working.
Yeah, don't like it... just switch it off and live your life...
it's only a TV show at the end of the day. Things change. That's
life.

Mostly. It depends on who's using it and on the needs of the plot.

Plenty of us have been scratching our heads over it of late! ;-)
I wouldn't get upset over a television show though, but there's
nothing wrong with being opinionated about it - even if that
can't actually change anything. Wanting one of your favourite TV
shows to be better than it is is reasonably normal... In the
case of "Doctor Who", which has been around since the 1960's,
it's probably just a case of some fans outgrowing the show, in
which case they are better off just not watching it.
Now, it just makes me scratch my head and go on
