    No they replace the bulbs and sweep the auditorium between their ears.

    Personally I doubt they could chose the memories they keep but an interesting conceit.

    bliss - who has memories she would like to forget but is likely being better person
    by keeping them.

    That also brings to mind Poul Anderson's _World Without Stars_.
