    I wonder how many sf/f stories staring a cheesemaker there are. I know
    of James Blaylock's _The Elfin Ship_ (and its sequel, _The Disappearing Dwarf_), but can't remember reading any others.

    Tiffany Aching, heroine of one of the sub-series in Pratchett's
    Discworld, is an accomplished cheesemaker.

    Some of her cheeses obtain sentience.

    This has brought to mind the immortal line from Star Trek Voyager:

    They're mentioned in _Monty Python's
    Life of Brian_, which is SF since there's
    a "flying saucer" (UFO) bit.

    Don't forget the cheese shop without any cheese for sale. Many
    cheeses are named but none are available.

    I suppose that Wallace and Gromit doesn't
    count although their first excursion is
    to the Moon in order to obtain cheese.

    established that cheese is made there,
    it just occurs.

    the Moon is transmuted into cheese.
