I just ran a "fully sapient robotic horse going by the name of 'Fess'" loosely based on a science fiction story. Any ideas ?

The referring story is "Bugs In The System" by mp3.1415player.

I'm not sure what you're asking. If it's the SF story,
it's _The Wizard in Spite of Himself_ and sequels by Stasheff.
First novel quite amusing, but rest not worth it.

Arrgh.. change "Wizard" to "Warlock". Replying too fast.

In Anthony Boucher's "The Quest for Saint Acquin" the protagonist rides
a robotic mount. IIRC it is an ass, and I've no idea of its name.

A quick skim turns up no name, only the phrase "the robass".
