• "Oppenheimer" didn't have historical perspective

    You can go into any part of the story, the building of the bomb, dropping it, but the misstep is pretending that being buddies with commies in that era didn't come with major consequences. People then hated/were suspicious of the Russians more than now.
    Imagine for example it turned out Biden associated with groups aligned with Russia now, how would that play? It was worse then and well-earned because at least Russian now isn't going around trying to forcibly convert the planet to communism which WAS
    their stated goal then. Oppenheimer's buddies who were in the communist party refused to believe that Russia had murdered millions of its own citizens in the 30s, or that they persecuted anyone who didn't share their ideology. Either that, or they just
    didn't care. The thick irony was that so many of the traitors were Jewish, Fuchs, Harry Gold, the Rosenbergs, a group who'd experienced persecution under the Nazis but refused to recognize it happening in Russia 10 years before the Nazi's Jewish purged
    reached its apex.
