    Unfortunately, "politically correct" and "inclusive" writing these days
    is often just as lazy as the worst white supremacist propaganda, just in
    the opposite direction.

    But historically, Romans didn't much care about skin colors, they were completely equal-opportunity slavers. The Roman army in Britain is
    documented to have had "�thiops" or "mauri" (ie. dark-skinned) soldiers,
    even a whole unit at Burgh-by-Sands (Aballava), near Carisle.
