Another excellent choice, lovely poem....
Nisbet's a poet I've been paying more attention to. She's best known as
a children's writer; I think whe's best known for the /Treasure Seekers/
or Bastable series.
The first part (octet) of this sonnet is a bit draggy. She has one
simple thought -- nothing smells as wonderful as autumn leaves -- to
fill 8 lines, so she has to pad it with a list of things that aren't as wonderful. But the last 6 lines (the sestet) is great; both the four I
quoted and the last two which are just perfect.
Look back, look back! through memory's deepening haze,
See — two who dreamed that dream, and you were one!
